It’s a long line of women
That makes me any thing at all.
Tip a hat all the way upward
So you know I nod.
There’s a whole mess a ladies
That did most everything right
And their actions counting
For any chance I’m ever good
What a noble undertaking
To achieve triumph in their eyes
Recalling any message
Before attempting obligations.
If ever water says I’m sinking
Wisdom aides in building rafts.
No success in counterfeiting
The line that links us front and back.
So this likeness is well fitting,
Ancestral beating of a drum
That pulses inside and through us
And grows and shrinks with the lungs.
The depth in pictures of mother
Before her story was spun,
Her chapters yet to be written,
Her covers still freshly drawn up.
This nest is housing its people,
Never assembled by just a one.
Place your essence on a leaf of amber
Set it down at the rivers young
And you can float down the current
When you feel you might be done.

It would be a mistake to only listen to this during the holidays. I think that this album is a wonderful Brown Bird album on its own and shouldn't be brushed aside just because it's a Christmas album. I don't even like Christmas music, but this is fantastic. Keej
